Love's gonna carry you home

Mostly LJ updates today. I'll get to other things later.

If you're friends with me already (I friended you and you friended me), you obviously don't have to worry about the friends only entry. I just put it up because people have started friending me without saying anything, and I have no idea where some of them even came from anymore.

I changed my layout again. I actually haven't done that for a long time. I didn't mess with the CSS at all, just the image at the top. I wanted it to be tinted slightly red to match the rest of the layout but still in black and white. I set up the image header to show more than one person this time. Although, I had a hard time choosing the people I wanted to include. At first, I was trying to decide between John and Paul for a Beatle, then I said screw it, and chose George. I respect George a lot, though. Was going to include John Mayer, but I decided on Frank Sinatra instead. I never do anything with him in it, and I like him more than I let on.

I updated my 2010 scrapbook somewhat. I have to add a few other things I missed to it. At least it didn't sit for half a year like it did last year. I've got a lot to add to it still.

I'm also going through and working on my tags. I want to clean them up and get rid of the ones I don't use anymore or really don't care to have anymore. I like some of my silly tag names, but I'm also going to make them easier to find.

I know I said I wasn't going to do a picspam for the Idol 2010 finale, but I've got something else in mind. Since it is the end of the Simon era, I wanted to do a couple of things for it. I also wanted to put Lee somewhere here since I did want him to win this year.

So, I'm searching "Jon Bon Jovi" and Google pulls up "jon bon jovi divorce" as the number one search. I wonder if I've missed something, and then I realize it's just people confusing Jon and Richie again. BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS JON IS REALLY THE ONLY MEMBER OF THE BAND. THE REST OF THE GUYS YOU SEE ON STAGE AND IN THE PICTURES ARE JUST MARIONETTES.

Anyway, most of the stuff I didn't finish tonight will be finished in a couple of days, so excuse the mess. I'm far too tired to work on stuff tonight. I should have gone to bed a while ago now anyway.

I stopped getting new friends on here ages ago, and I'm actually glad about it. I think LJ is my only secure place online anymore lol

I like your layout - it's cool to see Frank and George up there. I like Frank a lot more than I let on too. He was really the first singer I ever listened to as a kid, my parents love him.

The Jon Bon Jovi being the only member of the band thing annoys the hell out of me too. I also hate when people say "let's go see him, his band is great!" as if it's one guy and not an actual band.

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Occasionally, I'll notice a new one, and I have absolutely no idea where they came from. Sometimes I realize we spoke, like, two months before that.

Thanks. I tried to use people I have a lot of respect for or admire. George is probably my favorite Beatle. I don't think about it much. I just really love listening to or watching a movie with Frank Sinatra in it.

I know. And if they acknowledge anyone else, it's Richie. The others each have one song where they sing lead in the big box set. But the people who would buy it know the rest of the band exists already.

The days of me posting my LJ username around the internet are long over. Not that I did it much at all, but that's where most of my followers came from.

I guess if I had to pick a favorite Beatle it would be John, but it's a close call. I love them all, but I seem to gravitate to John the most. Frank is the best. Total class act.

True. That's a shame, they're all really talented too.

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
My username is the same in some places, but I don't generally post it. Most of the ones I get are from other LJ communities, though, or from my graphics journal (even though they should really just friend the graphics one).

It is close for me too. I think I have a lot of respect for George, although I do admire John quite a bit. Frank is wonderful, quite a legend.

No kidding. Memphis just won best musical of the year at the Tony Awards, not to mention David won some himself for his music in it. Not to mention the stuff they all did when Bon Jovi took a break.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Luckily I never made my LJ username the same anywhere else. I stopped reading most communities last year, too.

George is great. Really, they all are. Solo career-wise though, I really only follow John's stuff (and some of Paul's).

I read an article here in the paper about David's involvement in Memphis, it was pretty cool.

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
That was probably a good idea, haha. Although, it isn't as popular as it used to be, so I don't think a lot of people would think to look up an LJ username. I'm not as active in comms as other people are. I mostly read them.

The thing is, I think I'm more into Paul's solo career, but I think John's stuff was better. I have a bad tendency to just associate Paul with "Wonderful Christmastime." I really shouldn't, but that's what happens. XD

I've only heard bits and pieces, but the music sounds really good. He really did well working on it.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
I think it was mostly unintentional. I tend to make a lot of my other usernames my actual name and I knew it wouldn't work for this. I really hated having to put the "1985" after it, but everything else was taken haha

I definitely own more of John's stuff. I love Paul, but I kind of bypassed all of his Wings stuff. Paul is great live though. Haha. I think a lot of people do that :P

I haven't heard any of it, but I would assume he did a really good job. I've heard good things, for sure.

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even know why I bother. "Amanda" isn't a very common name anymore, so I'm starting to get concerned because of my career choice. Silly, but it's there. My last name on WordPress is set as "Lane," actually (speaking of the Beatles). I'm thinking about just using that as an internet alias/pen name from now on.

But I know better. XD I'm not really a fan of the Wings stuff either, I guess.

Yeah, all around it sounded like it did well.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-06-26 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
A pen name would be a great idea. Honestly, I don't worry too much about jobs finding me, but I'm becoming more careful because of certain people who follow me on other accounts. I try to keep most of my twitter/FB updates fairly neutral now.

I actually hated that song when I was a kid, lol. Still not his finest moment, either. :P

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
The pen name came about so people could say my last name if I ever got published and to separate myself from teaching if it happened as well since I have no idea what I'd end up writing at this point. Yeah, I do that lately (haven't touched Twitter in a while, actually). There's some people you just don't want reading that stuff.

I liked that song as a kid. Haha. Now I definitely wonder what he was thinking. ...And then Demi Lovato covered it. ~_~ Which means someone thought it was a good idea.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's definitely a smart idea, especially if you might end up in teaching. Yeah, just too many people around lately that would read into something the wrong way.

Oh Demi Lovato - another one I don't understand.

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
I was reading that if you put the copywright in your real name, then people can see that your real name, but I wonder how many people would bother to check. Yeah, that's the idea.

I kind of understand her (she sings better than some of the other Disney people), but I think she tries to sound like other people. Like, when she wrote with Jon McLaughlin, she's definitely imitating him on the vocals for those songs.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Probably not many, to be honest. Then again I guess you can never be too sure.

I haven't really ever listened to her. I guess I always assumed she was as bad as the rest of them. She's probably still too young to have a musical point of view of her own.

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
I figured that. Someone would know, but it isn't really common knowledge unless you're a best selling author, I think.

The song she wrote by herself for her last album is probably the best one on it, actually. She sings better than Miley Cyrus, for sure. Yeah, that does seem to be her problem. It probably doesn't help that Disney locks their "stars" into that bubble gum style of pop either.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-07-02 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know you could do that until you told me, to be honest.

Anyone has to be better than Miley! Yeah, from the very, very little I know of her, I can tell she's better than Miley. I have to wonder what her tour with the Jonas Brothers will be like since she and Joe broke up lol

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't either. I decided to look into it because I wondered how copyright was handled with things like that.

Now, now, I'd rather hear Miley than Taylor Swift, if we're being honest. I have no idea. I know they were doing the whole, "We're still friends" thing. Don't know how that's working for them. At least she's not still complaining about it.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Miley and Taylor are both a draw for equally godawful. It has to be awkward. Seems like she was way more into him than he was into her - that's never good lol

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-07-05 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
I guess I don't mind Miley because she isn't releasing the same song over and over again. He does seem to be a heartbreaker. I'll have to ask my sister what the atmosphere is like onstage.

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-07-07 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true. I just can't believe she makes SO MUCH MONEY. I wonder if they're doing any duets?

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-07-08 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's nuts. Well, they have that one duet with that Make A Wave, and they are THE couple of Camp Rock, so they probably will (why do I know this?).

[identity profile] holly-hox-1985.livejournal.com 2010-07-10 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all kids that buy her stuff, I guess. Haha, I wonder why I know half the things I know, too :P

[identity profile] westlifefan.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I like your new header! It's cute and fresh; very chic! I like Frank. I've been listening to a few of his tunes lately and such an era huh? So classy and sweet! <3

I don't like when people add me without really saying why they add me. My journals are private and I share them with those I know and trust and for someone to add me and then feel like I'd be the one obliged to add them back? Nuh-uh. I end up blocking people who don't go to my Friends Only entry and comment, lol. Rude right? Eh.

I hope you've been well and resting up!! :)

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. He is absolutely wonderful. I need to pick up a few more movies to watch. I really adore him in the old films.

I know. Then they don't comment anywhere, just sit there. I don't friend you back if you don't say anything anyway! I don't like friending people I haven't spoken to before either. I post some private stuff too. I don't have a lot of public entries. :/

I have. :) Looking for a job, which is stressful, but that also gives me time to rest.

[identity profile] westlifefan.livejournal.com 2010-06-29 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Simply wonderful! Yesterday I was listening to a tune of his on Sirius XM, "The Things We Did Last Summer" while driving along the countryside and it was such a beautiful moment; the sun setting and I just really love that yesteryear feeling. I've got to watch more of his movies -- he really was great! <3

You know, there is an etiquette when it comes to friending people and I wish more people knew about it even if it's like an unspoken rule of sorts, LOL! Yeah, I have a lot of private entries and I want to be able to trust who I'm adding back, you know? I'm not obliged to add someone just because they add me back. I have to know them and have conversations with them, know who they are. As funny as this sounds, I treat Facebook and Livejournal with much caution; people who I can trust and know are always in with me -- like you can't invite a vampire into your house because once he's there, he'll always come back. Do you know what I mean?? LOL! xD

I wish you luck on your job search! I'm sure in no time you will find your right fit! :)

[identity profile] street-symphony.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
That does sound nice. I meant to get a couple movies at the library this weekend, but somehow I ended up with There Will Be Blood and You Can't Take It With You (DON'T ASK ME HOW THAT HAPPENED 8D).

You would think it's common sense, though. I mean, some people do have very large friends lists and probably don't notice when someone new adds them anyway. It's really annoying. I treat them with caution too. I only add people I've met face to face (or have known for a while here). I don't mind adding people from high school (kind of have to stay in touch since I'm a class representative and will have reunion info and such later), but I get so many people I don't know adding me (and you can tell half of them are creepy guys).

Thanks. I keep looking. I was told the other day that a lot of people get hired in August, so I'm not too worried at the moment.
