Clay Aiken...
Sep. 15th, 2006 05:01 pmSo, Clay's finally releasing another album, A Thousand Different Ways, next Tuesday. It's mostly covers of love songs (among them, songs by Paul Young, Bryan Adams, and Celine Dion). One of the radio stations in my area posted the entire album up for listen today. I decided to give it a listen because while I like Clay's voice, there's just something about covers that I don't always like (like, I absolutely love a lot of songs Rod Stewart's covered and the way he's covered them, but I wish he hadn't touched "Pinball Wizard"). Anyway, there were some things I liked about the cd, and a few things I didn't care for much. I was half irritated by the "sneak peek...hear it here first...," but I understand. They don't want you to download it and snatch it for free. AOL doesn't bother to put that. They just have the songs up to listen to...which is probably a bad idea, but hey, it's AOL...when do they ever do something right? Okay, I'll shut up.
I love a lot of the songs, and he didn't really mess any up, so that's good. I won't deny that he can hit the notes and has a great voice (by the way, yes, he still has the new hairstyle, and it's doing wonders for him...very nice album cover). I think I liked the originals the most (there's four on the album). My favorites were probably "A Thousand Days" and "Everything I Have."
I'll probably buy the album because I do like Clay...I just hit that, "It's a cover" block once in a while.
